Mac Leather is a private label leather jacket manufacturer in Karachi, Pakistan. We’ve been making leather garments since 1998, and the third generation of the family runs the factory now. We make your jackets to your design, under your brand name and with your logo, starting from 20 pieces per order that you can mix across styles and colours.
You decide the design and the branding, down to the leather and the zips. We do the rest in our own factory on Allana Road: patterns, buying hides from local tanneries, samples, bulk production and QC, then export. You get your own jacket line without having to own a factory.

What private label means here
We make jackets to your spec and they leave our factory ready to sell under your label. Your labels, your hangtags, your packaging. Nobody finds out who made them unless you tell them.
White label is different: you pick from designs we already have and put your name on them. We do that too, through our wholesale leather jackets range. Private label is for brands that want jackets nobody else is selling.
In practice we turn your idea into a pattern, buy the hides and hardware you’ve specified, make a sample for you to approve, then make the full order to match it. That’s the whole OEM job.
Why brands use us for private label
You can start with 20 pieces
Our minimum is 20 pieces per order, mixed across styles and colours if you like. That’s our normal production minimum, not a promotion. Most leather jacket OEM factories want 200, 500 or 1,000 per style, which rules out most new labels. Small runs suit brands testing a style, doing a capsule, or selling at price points where volumes are low anyway. The catch is that the unit price is higher at 20 than at 200. People who know the leather
We’ve been at this since 1998. Our pattern cutters and machinists know how sheepskin sits on a bomber, how fine sheepskin drapes on a blazer, where suede needs reinforcing and how to panel shearling so it doesn’t turn bulky. On a private label order your name is on every jacket, so that knowledge matters.
Complicated garments
Leather doesn’t forgive mistakes. Unpick a seam and the needle holes stay there. So we take care with the hard constructions: quilted panels, asymmetric biker cuts, articulated sleeves, hidden zip plackets, built-in hoods, lots of inside pockets. 0% import duty into the UK and EU
Qualifying leather goods from our Karachi factory enter the UK at 0% duty under the UK DCTS (Developing Countries Trading Scheme). The EU charges the same 0% under Pakistan’s GSP+ status, which has been in place since January 2014. Turkey also gets 0% into the EU through the customs union. China and India pay 4% MFN. Add Pakistan’s lower labour and hide costs and our prices are hard to match. Your customs broker should confirm the commodity code for each product.

Turkey is quicker on samples. We’re cheaper, and the minimum is much lower.
Leathers for private label jackets
The leather sets the look, the weight and the price of the jacket, so it’s one of the first things we’ll talk through with you. We buy direct from Pakistani tanneries. The country has over 800 of them and more than 200 million head of livestock, including 33 million sheep and 89 million goats.
Sheepskin
Most of what we make. It’s soft and light, and it works for bombers and bikers, hooded jackets and casual outerwear. Supply is steady all year. If you’re aiming at $40 to $75 FOB, sheepskin gives you the best value, and it’s what we suggest first for a core collection.
Fine sheepskin
Our softest grades, with a fine grain. It drapes well and picks up a patina with wear. Use it for fashion bombers, tailored blazers and slim fits where the feel of the leather justifies a higher price. Expect $75 to $150 FOB.
Cowhide
Heavier and stiffer. Good for bikers and workwear-style jackets. We use full-grain, top-grain and corrected-grain. It holds its shape for years, though the weight puts some fashion customers off.
Goatskin
Strong and light, with a pebbled grain. It handles wear and damp well and sits between sheepskin and cowhide. Easy to get in Pakistan, so the price is fair.
Shearling
Sheepskin tanned with the wool on, used for aviators and winter coats, or just the collars. We sew it in-house, natural or dyed, in different wool lengths.
Suede and nubuck
Suede is the napped underside of the hide. Nubuck is the grain side, buffed. Both are soft and matte, and we have them in goat or sheep, and nubuck in cow. They suit vintage-look ranges and spring or autumn drops.
PU leather (vegan)
Polyurethane for brands that want no animal materials. PU jackets start at $15 to $35 FOB, which suits brands coming in at lower retail prices.
The genuine leather we buy is a by-product of the meat industry. No animal is raised or killed for its hide, and the hides would be wasted otherwise. It’s a true story if you want to tell it to your customers.

How the private label process works
1. Brief and quote, within 48 hours
Send tech packs, sketches or reference photos, plus the leather and colours you want, any hardware or branding, and rough quantities. We send back an itemised quote within 48 hours. Quoting is free and you’re not committed to anything.
2. Materials and sampling, about 2 weeks for simple styles and up to 8 for complicated ones
Once you’re happy with the quote, we buy the materials and make a sample. You check the fit and the make, and we revise it until it’s right. Most brands sign off after one or two rounds.
3. Bulk production, typically 30 to 45 days
After sign-off your order goes into the production plan. We check the work after cutting, after sewing and after finishing. Your labels and hangtags go on at the finishing stage, and your packaging at the end.
4. Final check and shipping
Each jacket is inspected before packing, against your approved sample. We look at the stitching and hardware, the lining, the symmetry and the finish. Then it ships by sea (20 to 30 days to Europe), air (5 to 7 days) or courier, with all the export papers, including the proof of origin for UK DCTS or EU GSP+ duty-free clearance.

Jacket styles we make under private label
Men’s and women’s. We can make any of these to your spec, or adapt one of our existing patterns, which saves time and money on sampling.
- Bombers, classic or modern, with rib cuffs and hem and a zip or snap front. It’s the style we make most of.
- Biker and moto jackets with asymmetric zip, belted waist, snap lapels, quilted shoulders. Classic Perfecto or slim modern cuts.
- Aviators with shearling lining, big collars and military details. Hard to make, and we’re good at them.
- Long leather trench coats in sheepskin or nubuck, with belt, storm flaps and structured shoulders.
- Hooded jackets, fixed or detachable, in matching leather or a jersey contrast.
- Vests for layering, from clean and minimal to rugged biker.
- Blazers with notch, peak or shawl collars for smart-casual ranges.
- Anything else. If it doesn’t fit a category, send us the tech pack or a sketch and we’ll still make it.

What is the minimum order quantity for private label leather jackets?
20 pieces per order, mixed across styles and colours if you want. So you could start with a few of each of several designs. The unit price drops at 100 pieces per style, again at 250 and again at 500+.
How long does private label leather jacket production take from enquiry to delivery?
Roughly 8 to 16 weeks from first enquiry to shipment, depending on the style. That’s a quote within 48 hours, about 2 weeks for a simple sample or up to 8 for a complicated one, plus any revisions, then typically 30 to 45 days of bulk production after you approve it. Shipping adds 5 to 7 days by air or 20 to 30 days by sea to Europe. For repeat customers we can sometimes rush an order.
Can I send my own designs, or does Mac Leather offer design support?
Both. Send tech packs, CAD files or detailed sketches and we’ll work from those. If you only have a mood board, we’ll do the patterns and technical drawings. Adapting one of our existing patterns is quicker and cheaper.
What is the primary leather used for private label jackets?
Sheepskin. It’s the best value for most ranges, and fine sheepskin is there if you want to go up a level. We also use cowhide and goatskin, shearling, suede or nubuck, and PU.
Does Mac Leather handle branding, labelling, and packaging?
Yes. Main labels (woven or printed), care labels, hangtags, custom zips or snaps (these have their own minimums), dust bags, polybags, branded cartons. You send the artwork and we make and apply it. Our name doesn’t appear anywhere.
Are there import duties on leather jackets from Pakistan entering the UK or EU?

How does Mac Leather’s pricing compare to manufacturers in Turkey or China?
We’re usually lower. Genuine leather jackets from us run $40 to $150 FOB depending on the leather and style, and on quantity: $40 to $75 for economy sheepskin, $75 to $150 for fine sheepskin. Turkish factories typically quote $70 to $200 for similar quality, and Chinese ones $50 to $160 before the 4% MFN duty. The difference comes from local tanneries, lower overheads and 0% UK and EU duty.
What quality control processes does Mac Leather use?
Four checks. Hides are inspected for grain and thickness before cutting. Cut panels are checked against the pattern. Seams and panel alignment are checked on the line. Then each finished jacket is compared with your approved sample, using AQL 2.5 unless you want something stricter. Third-party inspections by SGS, Bureau Veritas, QIMA or your own inspector are welcome, and we arrange REACH and AZO lab tests on request.
