Mac Leather is a custom leather jacket manufacturer in Karachi, founded in 1998 and now run by the third generation of the same family. Send us a tech pack, a rough sketch or a jacket you like, and we’ll turn it into a finished, production-ready garment in our own factory. We mostly work in sheepskin, with finer sheepskin grades for higher-end lines, and we also cut cowhide and goatskin, shearling, suede or PU. Orders start at 20 pieces, mixed across styles and colours, and samples take about 2 weeks for simple styles, up to 8 for complicated ones.
What kind of custom work we take on
It’s hard to find a bespoke leather jacket manufacturer that will take on awkward designs. Most factories want simple shapes in big volumes. We like the other kind: fur-trimmed collars, hand-laced fringe, asymmetric panels, colour blocking across a dozen pieces, quilted linings with your own print, jackets with fifteen or more separate bits of hardware. If a factory has told you it can’t be done, send it to us.
We work with fashion labels, private-label retailers, online brands and independent designers in the UK, Europe, North America and the Middle East. From custom leather jacket design through to bulk production and shipping, it all happens in our Karachi factory. We don’t send the important stages out to other workshops.

How a custom leather jacket order runs
Here’s how our made to order leather jackets get made, with rough timings for your buying calendar.

All in, expect roughly 8 to 16 weeks from first conversation to shipment, plus transit. The detail in your design decides where you land. Tricky designs and extra sample rounds make it longer.

Pretty much everything. As a custom leather jacket manufacturer we don’t work from a fixed menu. You specify each part and we source it.

How we work on custom orders
Complicated garments are fine
A plain bomber and a shearling coat with exposed wool edges need very different skills, and most factories only want the bomber. We’ve spent over 25 years getting good at the harder one, plus fur trims, hand-cut fringe, heavy quilting and jackets covered in hardware. The hard part is usually the pattern and the order of sewing. Get those wrong and no amount of care on the machine fixes it.
Everything in-house
Every stage from pattern to packing happens in our Karachi factory, which makes about 25,000 pieces a year. Nothing important goes out to another workshop, so turnaround is shorter and you’re talking to the people making your jackets. A 20-piece minimum, even for custom
The minimum is 20 pieces per order, mixed across styles and colours. That works for new brands, capsule collections and limited drops, and we can go up into the thousands when you need to. Most Chinese factories want 300 to 500 per style. We make custom leather jackets at wholesale scale, but a 20-piece order still gets looked at properly. 0% duty into the UK and EU
Qualifying leather goods from Pakistan enter the UK at 0% import duty under the UK DCTS (Developing Countries Trading Scheme). In the EU, Pakistan’s GSP+ status, granted in January 2014, gives the same 0% on finished leather apparel under HS heading 4203. China and India pay 4% MFN on the same goods. On 500 jackets at €80 CIF, that’s €1,600 a shipment you keep. Check the commodity code for each product with your customs broker.
A UK WhatsApp number and one person to talk to
We have a UK WhatsApp number and our project managers speak English. You can reach us on WhatsApp or email, or on a video call, during UK and European hours and North American ones too. Each order gets one named project manager who stays with it from sample to delivery.
Samples and prototypes
Before bulk, we make a physical sample to your brief. That’s where problems get found, so they don’t turn up in 200 finished jackets.
- Development sample: the first prototype, made from your tech pack, photos or sketches in the real bulk materials. About 2 weeks for simple styles, up to 8 for complicated ones.
- Revisions: fit and construction changes from your feedback, usually one or two rounds. Reasonable changes within the brief are covered by the sample fee.
- Pre-production (PP) sample: optional. A last check using the exact production leather and trims, with labels and packaging. Worth doing on a first order or a complicated design.
- Size set: one sample in each size to check the grading before we cut the bulk. If you sell through retailers who are strict on fit, do this.
Samples are charged, and we quote the cost upfront. If the order goes to bulk, the sample cost is normally credited against the first production invoice.

What custom leather jackets cost to make
It depends on the leather, how complicated the design is and the quantity. As a rough guide, FOB Karachi prices for custom leather jackets fall in these bands:

These are guide prices. We quote each project on its own design and quantities, and the unit price drops as quantities go up, at 100 pieces per style, then 250, then 500+. With 0% duty on qualifying leather goods under the UK DCTS and EU GSP+, your landed cost is lower than from China or India, where 4% MFN applies. Here’s the duty advantage and how it works.
Custom leather jacket questions
Can you manufacture a leather jacket from my own design?
Yes. We make leather jackets from your own design whether you have a full tech pack with measurements, a few sketches and photos, or another brand’s jacket you want to copy or improve. Our pattern makers handle the technical side, like grading, seam construction and material choice, and you keep control of how it looks.
What is the minimum order quantity for custom leather jackets?
20 pieces per order, mixed across styles and colours. That applies to fully custom designs and to changes on our existing shapes.
What types of leather do you work with?
Mainly sheepskin, which gives the best mix of softness and price for most jackets. Fine sheepskin is lighter and softer, for higher-end lines. We also use full-grain and top-grain cowhide, goatskin and shearling, suede or nubuck, plus PU. The hides come from tanneries in Karachi’s Korangi cluster, and we arrange REACH and AZO lab tests on request.
How long does it take from design submission to delivery?
Roughly 8 to 16 weeks from sending us the design to shipment, depending on how complicated it is. Roughly: quote within 48 hours, materials within a week, sample in about 2 weeks for a simple style or up to 8 for a complicated one, revisions in 5 to 7 days, then 30 to 45 days of bulk production after sample approval. Air freight to Europe adds 5 to 7 days and sea freight 18 to 25.
Do you provide private labelling and branded packaging?
Yes, on every custom order. Woven brand labels, care and size labels, hangtags and leather patches, plus dust bags, polybags, hangers, cartons with your logo. We can add barcodes and SKU stickers so the jackets arrive ready for the shop floor. Our name isn’t on anything.
What duty advantages does sourcing from Pakistan provide?
Qualifying leather goods go into the UK at 0% duty under the UK DCTS (Developing Countries Trading Scheme), and into every EU country at 0% under GSP+ (granted January 2014, HS heading 4203 for finished leather apparel). Jackets from China or India pay 4% MFN. On 1,000 jackets at €60 CIF, that’s €2,400 per shipment. Your customs broker should confirm the commodity code for each product.
Can you match a competitor’s sample or improve on an existing design?
Yes. Send the garment or good photos and we’ll work out how it’s built. We can copy it, or suggest changes such as a better leather, better hardware or a cleaner construction, and then make you a sample. Quite a few brands come to us this way, wanting a better version of something they already sell, at a lower price.
