We make private label leather bags for UK and EU fashion brands and boutiques, in our own factory in Karachi, Pakistan. Mac Leather is a family business that has been working leather since 1998, and three generations of us are in it now. The bag leaves us with your name on it and nothing of ours.
The minimum is 20 pieces per order, mixed across styles, so a new label can start with a few totes and a few crossbodies instead of hundreds of one design. Every style is sampled before bulk, and qualifying leather goods enter the UK at 0% duty under the DCTS.

What private label covers
We make the bag and you sell it as yours. A private label order with us normally includes:
- developing the design from your tech pack, a sketch or a sample bag
- pattern making, and a sample before any bulk
- choosing the leather and lining
- your branding, applied here in the factory
- checks at each stage of production
- branded packing and the export documents

Custom design from a tech pack, sketch or reference
You don’t need a finished spec to start.
From a tech pack
If you have a full tech pack, we quote against it and go straight to pattern and sample. It’s the quickest route.
From a sketch
A sketch with rough dimensions and a note on leather and hardware is enough for a first sample. Before we cut, we’ll come back with questions on whatever the sketch leaves open, usually gusset depth, strap drop or the pocket layout.
From a bag you already like
Send it over and tell us what to change, whether that’s the size, the leather or the hardware, and we’ll use it as a starting point and work towards a bag that’s properly yours.
Whichever route you take, the approved sample is the reference for bulk and for reorders, so next season’s bag matches this one.
Branding options for private label bags
Branding is done in the factory and sampled with the bag, so you see the actual result before bulk.
- Embossing, where the logo stands raised from the leather. Best on leather labels and tabs.
- Debossing, pressed into the leather, blind or with colour. Works on bag fronts, straps, wallets, belts.
- Foil stamping in gold, silver or a colour, which reads best on smooth leather and on linings.
- Metal logo plates, engraved or cast, usually on structured totes and shoulder bags.
- Hardware in your own finish, so every zip and buckle across the range matches.
- Woven or leather labels stitched inside.
- Branded dust bags and boxes.
Most brands pick two or three of these, say a debossed logo on the front, a woven label inside and a dust bag. Foil comes out clean on smooth cowhide. On suede a blind deboss usually looks better, because foil tends to go patchy on the nap.
MOQ and pricing
Twenty pieces per order, spread across styles however you want. Eight totes, six crossbodies and six backpacks is one order, not three.
Plenty of bag factories, particularly the bigger ones in China, count 50 to 100 or more per style. For a three-style launch that’s 150 to 300 bags before you’ve seen a single sale. Twenty mixed pieces lets you test the range first and put the money into whichever styles sell.
Price per piece falls as quantity goes up, because leather is bought and cut more efficiently and the setup is shared over more bags. What moves the price most:
- the leather, since full-grain cowhide costs more than corrected cowhide or suede
- the size of the bag and how many panels it has
- how much hardware there is, and its finish
- branding and packaging
- the quantity per style

Samples before bulk
Every private label bag is sampled first, and bulk is made to match the sample you sign off.
- You send the design and a target quantity. We quote within 48 hours.
- We make the pattern and first sample, usually in about 2 weeks for a simple bag and up to 8 for a complicated one.
- You send comments and we change the size, shape, hardware or branding as needed.
- You sign off the sample, and it becomes the standard bulk is checked against.
- Bulk takes 30 to 45 days after approval, as a rule.
During bulk we check stitching and edge paint, pull-test handles and strap anchors, and run every zip. Edges are painted and never burnished first, because burnishing closes the fibres and the paint won’t bond. Each finished bag is compared with the approved sample before it goes in the carton.
Compliance and labelling
A private label bag carries your name, so it has to meet the rules where you sell it. We can:
- make and stitch woven or leather labels to your artwork, with whatever care, material or origin wording you need
- arrange REACH and AZO testing at a lab if your market or retailer asks for it
- take third-party inspections before shipment, by SGS, Bureau Veritas, QIMA or your own inspector
- prepare the export and origin paperwork

Who our private label bags suit
Mostly new labels launching a first bag collection, and clothing brands adding bags next to leather garments we already make for them. Boutiques use it too, for a bag under their own name that the shop down the road doesn’t stock.
